official opinions: nerd love is the air

The Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) was a big hit over the weekend with over 40,000 attendees packed into McCormick Place. If you aren’t familiar with C2E2, it is the place to learn the latest about all things comics, movies, television, toys, anime, manga and video games.

The convention was filled with amazing panels, meet & greets and especially great features like detailed costumes, a “droid hunt” and our personal favorite: sci-fi speed dating.  C2E2’s speed dating host, Gi-Ganakin and his “intergalactic crew,” took daters through the process of finding an ideal potential mate through series of three-minute dates to find their very own super hero!

With all this nerdy love in the air, check out some of Stitely‘s favorite nerdy proposals! Even though these ideas might be geeky, they definitely work because all of these brides said yes!

1. Super Mario proposal

R.W. knew how much his girlfriend, April, loved Super Mario so he transformed this living room into the perfect proposal. Her reaction to the room (and the ring!) is priceless!

2. Jean-Luc Picard gives his blessing!

Patrick Stewart went along with this groom’s proposal at last year’s Comic-Con. How he got a celebrity in on the act without blowing his cover, we’ll never know!

3. The ultimate geeky proposal: Portal 2 style

Gary hired a programmer to create the most detailed proposal for his girlfriend Stephanie on her birthday. After pressing play and going through 8 minutes of puzzling games, Stephanie was met with a question from the game’s computer system, GLaDOs, saying:

“Stephanie Harbeson, as part of a psychological testing protocol, I am required to ask if you will do Gary Hudston the honor of becoming his wife…you can say no. I’m sure he’ll get over it. Eventually.”

Remember, if all else fails, you can always show your inner geek true love through memes…LOLcats proposal, anyone?
