Today’s music Monday is collaboration as well as a cover brought to you by Feist and Ben Gibbard called “Train Song”. This mellow tune deals with a long-distance relationship and the uncertainty of both parties about the other.

a perfect couple…in black and white
The mix of Feist’s ghostly voice with the smooth vocals from Ben Gibbard of The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie fame create the perfect combo and feel for this song. This collab effort was then added to the Red Hot AIDS charity Album, Dark was the Night which helped raise funds for awareness on HIV and AIDS. So not only was the cover a fantastic haunting song, but helped for a good cause as well.
As stated before this song is a cover. The original writer is Vashti Bunyan who released this tune way back in 1966. Take a listen here and compare to the new version of the song. Surprisingly the cover Feist and Ben created tried to stay true to the original feel of Vashti’s single but with the twist that both parties were involved with the uncertainty of their relationship.
A cool yet eerie traveling song that everyone here at Stitely couldn’t resist. Gotta love those minor chords!
